Painting is a portrayal of Banyan tree-tree of life. This Banyan tree represents my family; branches of this tree grounds their selves and eventually becoming a tree of their own - creating a vast family of trees. Though they all are independent, these trees remain together for centuries - just like my family.
painting is done using decorative style of Indian folk art- Kalamkari. Style is know for its intricacte designs and very limited color palette: white is exposed paper, painting is drawn with black paint and only one other color than red is used to evoke the painting. I find this style very challenging. It is primarily used as textile designing. Decorative elements of Kalamkari help me transport my landscapes to the fantasy world.
